This interesting bowl was turned from a red oak crotch piece, which creates the overall heart shape, as well as the cool feathery grain pattern in the bottom of the bowl. There is some sapwood near the top and I left the bug holes. Finished with water-based Minwax Polycrylic, the bowl is fully cured and safe for food contact but due to the natural voids is only suitable for dry goods.
